Echoes

This is another painless test. In this test, you lie down, and three stickers with wires attached to them are placed on your chest. Then the tech will use what is actually a camera with a soft rubber tip covered in goo to look at your heart.

This is no ordinary camera, though. Instead of using light, it uses sound to take its pictures. The lights in the room are usually turned down low so the doctors and technicians can better see the pictures the camera makes. It is almost relaxing because all you have to do is lay there in a dark room on a bed with warm blankets.

The test takes about 30 to 40 minutes, but don't worry about being bored. There are TVs and VCRs in the room, so you can watch cartoons or movies. When the test is over, the stickers and wires are taken off and the goo is wiped off your chest.
