Child and Family Life: MottSib
What is MottSibs?
It is a special day to celebrate siblings! Play games, have fun and do cool projects! And talk to other kids who know what it is like to have a brother or sister who has an acute illness or chronic disorder!
While working with patients and families and through research “we now know that brothers and sisters of a sick child are often profoundly affected by their sibling’s experience. Siblings will often feel that something they did or said caused the sickness or that they will get sick too, or that their parents do not care about them any more.”
Child life specialists can “help siblings explore and express feelings such as guilt, anger, sadness, and fear, in order to gain mastery and cope with the stress that they experience.”
This program requires special registration. Please refer to the brochure for more information.
