Chris Edwards, Laboratory Manager
Chris oversees all of the administrative functions concerned with the MIL. He offers training on all instrumentation and consults with research investigators with appropriate applications and grant preparations for budgetary concerns.
Bruce Donohoe, Senior Laboratory Supervisor
Bruce offers training to new users of the facility in the use and operation of all of our confocal, fluorescence, standard optical and electron microscopes and all ancillary preparative equipment. All training is arranged on a one-on-one basis. If one prefers, operation of the above equipment for the investigator can also be arranged.
Linda Barthel head shot Linda Barthel, Senior Research Lab Specialist
Linda has more than 25 years of experience in laboratory management. She is experienced in basic microscopy imaging, confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, cryostat and paraffin processing and sectioning, and electron microscopy. Linda is responsible for training all new users at the MIL-North.
Jeff Harrison, Research Lab Specialist
Jeff offers training to new users of the facility in the use and operation of all of our confocal, fluorescence, standard optical and electron microscopes and all ancillary preparative equipment. All training is arranged on a one-on-one basis. If one prefers, operation of the above equipment for the investigator can also be arranged.
Dotty Sorenson, Technical Microscopist
Dotty offers transmission and scanning electron microscopy services including tissue or cell culture processing, ultramicrotomy, and electron microscope operation. Each routine is customized to fit the investigator's research needs. Dotty will also train individual investigators to do his or her own sample preparation and electron microscope operation, and offers training and/or assistance on the Olympus Fluoview 500 confocal microscope as well as all of our standard light microscopes.
Shelley Almburg, Instrument Analyst
Shelley offers training and assistance on the Olympus Fluoview 500 confocal microscope, the BioRad confocal microscope, as well as training on all of our light microscopes and digital imaging systems. Shelley also offers microscope repair, alignment and cleaning on all types of light microscopes here at the Medical School, University Hospital's and elsewhere on campus.
Sasha Meshinchi, Microscopy Specialist & Image Analyst
Sasha offers transmission and scanning electron microscopy services including sample processing, ultramicrotomy, electron microscope operation, training and consultation. Each routine is customized to fit the investigator's research needs. Sasha also operates and trains individuals on laser scanning confocal microscopes [Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET), Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching (FRAP), Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM), etc], wide-field fluorescence microscopes, live cell time-lapse imaging, laser capture micro-dissection. He will also assist individuals with various image analysis software provided by the MIL.
Judy Poore, Research Lab Specialist Assoc.
Judy offers training for the Histology/light microscopy preparation instrumentation including performing sectioning and staining of your samples on a pre-arranged fee-for-service basis. Training includes rotary paraffin microtomes, cryostats, tissue processor and paraffin embedding station.
