Our faculty study a wide variety of gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens including mucosal pathogens (Campylobacter jejuni, E. coli, Helicobacter pylori, Proteus mirabilis, Vibrio cholerae) and intracellular pathogens, (Legionella pneumophila, Listeria monocytogenes).  Select agents are also under investigation including (Bacillus anthracis, Brucella spp., and Yersiniapestis), Mycobacteria tuberculosis). Toxin secretion (cholera toxin) and antimicrobial and therapeutic agent discovery (Actinomycetes, Cyanobacteria, and Myxobacteria spp.) are also under study. Other aspects of study include vaccine development and mathematical modeling of infection.
