Lavishia

Mother of six - no time for a hospital bed.

Lavishia

After having her last child, Lavishia went back to work but knew something was wrong. She got to the point when she couldn't get up and go to work. Finally, the local doctor told her to go to U-M. She saw a cardiologist and right away had a cardiac catheterization. It showed blood was not flowing properly and her arteries were clogged. Essentially, her heart lost its ability to pump blood to the rest of her body. LaVishia had heart surgery to put in an LVAD - or Left Ventricle Assist Device.
