Together through the years.
Jake was born with a congenital defect - Tibial Hemimelia - a genetically transmitted disease where portions of the tibia are missing. Because of the complexity of Jake's condition, his parents sought the expertise of the doctors at U-M C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. At only 10 months old, Jake's leg was amputated. Then, at 11 months, he was fitted for his first prosthetic leg. Jake has worked with the same prothestist, Alicia, since the beginning. Over the years, he's been fitted with over nine different prosthetic legs.
