Wellness Champions
Wellness Champions for the Michigan Healthy Community
Initiative play an important role in reaching out and engaging UM’s
faculty and staff within their work unit. Their ability to effectively
communicate with their work unit about the programs and resources
available, to encourage them to take advantage of these services,
and to champion the creation of a healthy workplace culture in their
unit will be key to our success in improving the health and well-being
of UM’s faculty and staff.
The role of the Wellness Champion entails the following
duties:
Communicating regularly with the Michigan Healthy Community
project team by emailing mhealthy@umich.edu
or calling 975-3056 (dial all seven digits).
Forwarding on participants' monthly e-mails to department staff.
Reserving a "Healthy Minute" in staff meetings to update
staff on upcoming wellness programs and information.
Being the liaison between the wellness staff and departmental
staff.
Creating an Mhealthy Bulletin Board in your department with
material gained from the Wellness Champion tool kit, the monthly
program emails, and the web site.
Being an active and enthusiastic “Ambassador” for
wellness in your department!
