The overall objective of this sequence is for the students to obtain integrated information regarding the structure and function of the digestive system through lectures, laboratory exercises and small group conferences. In essence, the sequence will cover four topics related to digestion; (1) the actual process of digestion and its regulation, (2) metabolic interactions, (3) pharmacology and pharmacokinetics of drug absorption and metabolism, and (4) introduction to nutrition.
