Through
the Program in Biomedical
Sciences (PIBS) and the Horace Rackham School of Graduate Studies,
the Medical School offers Ph.D. and master's degree programs in the
basic sciences. PIBS encompasses thirteen different departments and
interdisciplinary programs. The students benefit not only from the
flexibility of a broad range of program choices, but also from the
focused and individualized training environments within each discipline.
Students who are certain of their choice of specialty can concentrate
immediately within any one field, while those still exploring more
than one area can devise a study plan that includes several programs,
without delaying progress toward a degree.
