Medical School Staff Orientation Given our desire to provide an orientation program designed specifically for University of Michigan Medical School (UMMS) employees, a two part orientation process was developed and implemented July 1, 1997 for UMMS staff. The first part of this program will be conducted by the Health System Human Resource (HSHR) for new hires on Mondays and will continue to be held on Tuesday mornings in the North Campus Administrative Building (NCAC), 2901 Hubbard Dr, training Rooms A/B. The session begins on both days at 8:00 a.m., with check-in at 7:45 a.m. The orientation on Tuesday will consist of the completion of necessary paperwork and presentations by the M-WORKS/Employee Assistance Program, MFIT, Parking Services and Staff Benefits. Employee are now able (and encouraged) to purchase parking options during this session. The session usually ends between 11:00 and 11:30am.UMMS staff will then be directed to the Key/I.D. office to complete their processing before returning to work. The second part of the orientation program will be conducted by the Medical School and will be held will be held in NCAC right after the HSHR orientation on Tuesday. All new staff and individuals transferring to the Medical School are expected to attend this. After speaking with Employee Health Service (EHS) and Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (OSEH) we have determined that it is no longer necessary for all UMMS staff to obtain health screenings. Therefore, this routing has been discontinued for most staff. In-depth safety training and immunizations will continue to be provided, as requested and as required by law, for individuals in laboratories and hazardous occupations. Please share this information with appropriate administrative staff in your department. |
