Advanced imaging techniques have led to a revolution in various forms of therapeutics such as image-guided precision radiation therapy and surgery, as well as the emergence of imaging as an assessment tool for regional and systemic therapies.
The 2008 Biomedical Research Symposium on “Image-Guided Therapy,” jointly sponsored by the Office of Research of the Medical School and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan will focus on advances that integrate imaging into various therapeutic procedures. Participants will learn about new research findings in the imaging sciences, molecular imaging, and clinical systems for image-guided therapy. Internationally recognized experts will address these topics, and describe the challenges and opportunities that lie in cross-disciplinary research and clinical developments.
A goal of this symposium is to foster collaborations within and potentially outside the University of Michigan on image-guided therapy research. This symposium will be of particular interest to faculty and students who study fundamental aspects of imaging systems, molecular imaging methods, and especially those who practice and/or investigate methods of therapy that currently involve imaging or which could benefit from improved mechanisms to stage, guide, and/or assess therapeutic impact.
The University of Michigan Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
