Counseling & Learning Support

The University of Michigan Medical School is dedicated to the personal, academic, professional, and physical well-being of our medical students, providing counseling and student support service functions within the Office of Medical Student Education-Student Services. The Class Counselors are available to all students for confidential personal counseling and support, crisis management, academic advising, and career counseling. They are also responsible for managing quiz and exam deferrals during the first two years of medical school, working with the Registrar to inform, monitor, and track Leave of Absence requests, and advocating for students at Academic Review Board sessions and/or one-on-one meetings with Assistant Deans.
