Applications for all fellowship awards must be received by July 31, 2009
Two NIH/NRSA Predoctoral Fellowship
awards have been established through NIH support provided by the Center for Organogenesis Training Grant. The goal of this NRSA Fellowship award is to provide two years of support to predoc fellows (candidates only) who wish to undertake a research project in the field of Organogenesis. The research project must fit the goals of the Center for Organogenesis (as outlined below). Individuals who are submitting applications for this fellowship must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents. Primary faculty mentors must have an active research program with sufficient funds to provide continuous support for a trainee (NIH or NSF grant or equivalent). Potential faculty mentors who are not already listed as Organogenesis training grant mentors may apply for mentorship simultaneously with the NIH fellowship submission. Mentor applications are available (see below).One Non-Traditional Postdoctoral Fellowship
award is available to begin 9/1/09. This award will provide funding for one year of support ($25,000) to a postdoc fellow (non-US applicants only). The research project must fit the goals of the Center for Organogenesis (as outlined below).Organogenesis Mission Statement: The mission of the Center is to provide an infrastructure for the study of Organogenesis at the University of Michigan. The field of Organogenesis unites research in the clinical, basic science and applied arenas with a common, directed goal: To understand the basic mechanisms by which organs and tissues are formed and maintained, and to use this knowledge to create long lasting artificial organs, stem cell therapies or organ transplantation systems that will correct genetic and acquired diseases. The following research focus areas have been defined:
- Organ Development
- Organ/Tissue Maintenance and Replacement
- Abnormal Organ Growth
