Faculty and Departments
The availability of appropriate mentors for research training and
career guidance is of central importance to the success of MSTP
fellows. This section of our web site provides information about
our faculty in several formats, so that you can more easily find
the specific information you are seeking.
Search our Mentor List
Each of our research faculty provides a 1-2 sentence description
of their research. "Search our Mentor List" allows you
to search those descriptions for specific words, thus identifying
faculty with research interests in those areas.
Browse Faculty by Department
This page lists the core Ph.D.-granting Departments, and provides
an alphabetical list of faculty within those Departments. Each facultys
name is followed by a 1-2 sentence research description, and is
linked to his/her own web site where you can find more detailed
information. Each section also contains a link to the Department's
home page.

Faculty by Research Area
This page lists research faculty according to their areas of research
interest, e.g. cancer biology, gene expression, etc. Faculty may
be listed in more than one area. This link opens a new window that
is not part of the MSTP web site, but rather, is part of the PIBS
website. PIBS, or the Program In Biomedical Sciences, coordinates
admission for thirteen Ph.D. programs at the University of Michigan.
The MSTP is separate from PIBS (since our admissions process is
separate), but just about all MSTP research faculty also are PIBS
faculty.
Career Advisory Panel
There are a large number of faculty at the University of Michigan
Medical School who hold both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees and who are
actively involved in research and the practice of medicine. Approximately
120 of these faculty have agreed to volunteer their time to assist
MSTP fellows in career guidance. These dedicated individuals are
waiting for you to contact them.
The listing of our Career Advisory Panel faculty can be viewed
alphabetically by Department or by faculty
name. These listings include brief information about each faculty
member's training and current academic interests.
The Career Advisory Panel listings also can be downloaded as a Department PDF file or a faculty
name PDF file. These files require Adobe
Acrobat Reader to open.
Clinical Mentor Panel
The Clinical Mentor Panel consists of MD/PhD faculty (a subset of the Career Advisory Panel)
who have volunteered to provide clinical experiences for MSTP fellows during their thesis research.
You are welcome to contact these faculty (or other faculty).
The Clinical Mentor Panel listings can be downloaded as a PDF file.
