The Clinical Years

Clinical rotations begin upon completion of thesis research and dissertation defense. Flexibility in the time of starting on the clinical rotations permits adjustments to the time required for completion of the thesis. An introductory clinical experience is arranged for the fellows prior to beginning their clinical work.

M3 Rotations

The M3 rotations for MSTP fellows are identical to those for other medical students and include the following Core Clerkships:

Internal Medicine
Surgery
Child & Adolescent Medicine
Women's Health
Psychiatry
Family Medicine
Neurology

Radiology/Imaging is integrated into the above clerkships. Also during the M3 year are Seminars in Medicine (interdisciplinary topics).

After completion of the M3 year, students take the Clinical Comprehensive Assessment II (CCA II) and USMLE Step 2.

M4 Rotations

The M4 year is truncated for MSTP fellows. MSTP fellows complete a subinternship, an Intensive Care Unit rotation, Emergency Medicine, and 8 weeks of electives. MSTP fellows also have a 4 week vacation/interviewing period.
