Welcome
The University of Michigan Faculty Group Practice (Org Chart PDF) was established in 1996 to combine the practice plans of 15 U-M clinical departments into one single integrated, multi-specialty U-M physician group. Today, the FGP includes more than 1,600 physician members.
The FGP supports the U-M Health System's tripartite mission of patient care, education and research by:
- Treating more than 1,700,000 patients annually in hospitals, health centers and clinics throughout southeastern Michigan
- Educating more than 800 resident physicians and 700 medical students
- Conducting leading edge basic science and clinical research.
FGP Leadership/Governance
The Senior Associate Dean of the U-M Medical School serves as Executive Director of the FGP. The FGP is governed by a Board of Directors, which is advisory to the Dean of the Medical School. The Board is comprised of 20 chairs of departments and five non-chairs that represent cohorts of faculty. The cohorts include primary care, hospital-based, internal medicine (non-primary care), medical departments (excluding internal medicine), and surgical departments. The Board of Directors meets monthly to determine policy and act on issues related to patient care, contracting, financial planning, strategic planning, professional billing, and outpatient clinic management. Several committees provide recommendations and advice to the Board.
