About the Awards

In this section, you will find a brief description of each award. Please click on the titles for a full description and to learn more about the nomination process.

The Basic Science Research Award recognizes a faculty member or group of faculty members who exhibit outstanding basic science research.

The Clinical & Health Services Research Award recognizes a faculty member or group of faculty members who exhibit outstanding clinical research.

The Community Service Award recognizes a faculty member or group of faculty members who have contributed to our community in an extraordinary fashion.

The Distinguished Faculty Lectureship Award in Biomedical Research recognizes a faculty member who has shown long-term contributions of biomedical research, teaching and service to the University of Michigan.

The Kaiser Permanente Teaching Awards recognize faculty members who have superior teaching abilities.

The Lifetime Achievement Award in Medical Education recognizes a faculty member or group of faculty members who have contributed significantly to medical education.

The Outstanding Clinician Award recognizes exemplary performance as a practicing clinician or program leader of innovation in clinical care.

The Medical School's awards program for staff is being expanded. Announcement will be made by the end of June 2008 on procedures for submission of applications.
