March 19: Match Day
With the emotional intensity of the Oscars, the anticipation of the college draft and the culmination of four years of training, fourth year U-M Medical School students will gather Thursday, March 19, at the Sheraton Four Points in Ann Arbor for Match Day. Dean James O. Woolliscroft, M.D., and Associate Dean for Student Affairs Elizabeth Petty, M.D., will convene the gathering of about 160 students and their families.

U-M students have the tradition of finding out as a group, even though results of the nationwide matching process are posted online at 1 p.m. and any graduating medical student in the country can find out their residency match on their own . The match, conducted annually by the National Resident Matching Program, is the primary system for aligning applicant preferences with those of residency programs at U.S. teaching hospitals.
