Masters degree in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis, U-M Biostatistics
The department of Biostatistics is accepting applications for the On Job/On Campus Master's in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis Program starting October 2009. The program is designed for health care professionals who are involved in clinical research to develop expertise in research design and statistical analysis while continuing their professional employment. The U-M School of Public Health pioneered the non-residential On Job/On Campus format in 1972. Approximately 250 students have completed the Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis Program.
Participants meet in Ann Arbor for a four-day weekend once every four to five weeks for 30 hours of class time. Between weekends on campus, participants complete course assignments and work on projects while remaining in their jobs. For information about admission criteria and requirement, visit our Web Site, e-mail Fatma Nedjari at fned@umich.edu or call 734-615-9812.
Biomedical Research Symposium on 'Image-Guided Therapy' This symposium will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. in the Biomedical Science Research Building Auditorium. It will focus on advances that integrate imaging into various therapeutic procedures. Participants will learn about new research findings in the imaging sciences, molecular imaging, and clinical systems for image-guided therapy. Internationally recognized experts will address these topics and describe the challenges and opportunities that lie in cross-disciplinary research and clinical developments. Researchers at U-M will present their work at a poster session. This event is free, and CME credit is available. To register, visit the Web site . For more information, e-mail Kathryn Ridner or call 734-763-4086 with questions.
The White-Light Laser Innovation Leica Microsystems Application staff will be presenting a discussion of their new white light laser system that allows users to select up to eight excitation lines for confocal imaging from 2 - 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in the Biomedical Science Research Building, room 3515. This is the basis for their new TCS SP5 X Tunable Confocal System that also has spectral separation of emission signals. A two-week demonstration of the new system will follow in the Microscopy and Image-analysis Lab. Two- hour time slots will be available beginning Tuesday, Nov. 11 through Thursday, Nov. 29, for users to bring their samples for analysis. Visit the Microscopy and Image-analysis Laboratory Web site for a detailed description and flyer. For reservations contact Kris Fertig from Leica at 412-260-7383 or Chris Edwards at 734-936-1170.
