Attend Dean Woolliscroft's office hours program
Since beginning the "office hours" program, Dean Woolliscroft has met informally with many faculty, staff and students who have provided him with valuable comments and suggestions on how to enhance our efforts and make a great school even better. Below are the days, times and locations for office hours in the coming month. Faculty, staff and students are invited to stop by with their creative ideas and innovative solutions:

  • Thursday, June 5, at 3 p.m. in the Biomedical Science Research Building Seminar Room
  • Wednesday, June 18, at 9:30 a.m. in room F6245 MCHC.

May 28: Professorship inaugurations
James O. Woolliscroft, M.D., dean of the Medical School, cordially invites you to the inauguration of the Cyrus and Jane Farrehi Professorship in Cardiovascular Research and the installation of José Jalife, M.D., as the first Farrehi Professor, and the inauguration of the Frank Norman Wilson Professorship in Cardiovascular Medicine and the installation of Mario Delmar, M.D., Ph.D., as the first Wilson Professor at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 28 in the Biomedical Science Research Building Auditorium. May 27: Office of the Vice President for Research town hall meeting, discussion and reception
The Office of the Vice President for Research will hold a Town Hall meeting from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in the Rackham Assembly Hall, 4th Floor. Stephen Forrest, vice president for research, will discuss the following topics of interest to the research community:

  • Progress on the U-M innovation initiative
  • Research cyberinfrastructure
  • OVPR Faculty Grants and Awards program
  • Search for an associate vice president for research for social sciences and humanities
  • New campus research initiatives

June 25: Gabriel Nunez distinguished faculty lectureship and reception
Gabriel Nunez, M.D., Paul de Kruif Professor of Academic Pathology, Department of Pathology and Comprehensive Cancer Center, is the recipient of the 2008 Distinguished Faculty Lectureship Award in Biomedical Sciences--the highest award given by the Medical School for Research. Nunez's lecture, "Living with Microbes: Recognition, Host Defense and Disease," will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, in the Biomedical Sciences Research Building Auditorium. A reception follows.
