Beware of e-mails that ask you to provide your password
A new malicious e-mail phishing attempt has been received by a number of people on campus. It tries to fool people into thinking they are responding to a message about their University of Michigan e-mail account. DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE E-MAILS!

E-mails that have been reported so far indicate that they are coming from sources such as:

  • "Umich.Edu Webmail Support"
  • "Umich Email Management"
  • "support at umich.edu"

Subject lines have included:

  • "Dear umich.edu Webmail Subscriber"
  • "VERIFY YOUR umich.edu EMAIL ACCOUNT NOW"
  • "UMICH.EDU SUPPORT TEAM"
If you ever receive an e-mail like this, DO NOT RESPOND or provide personal information. No responsible organization will ask you to divulge your password. It is important to not respond to these e-mail requests. By doing so, you could put your account at risk, or someone could open new accounts with your identity.

If you have already replied with your password, contact the Health System Compliance Office at 734-615-4759 to report an IT security incident. You should also change your password immediately. For more information on changing your password, visit www.itd.umich.edu/itcsdocs/r1162/ for Level-1 passwords and webdesk.med.umich.edu/user/reset/login.jsp for Level-2.

June 12: Bo Schembechler book now available - book signing
Before his death on the eve of the 2006 Michigan-Ohio State game, legendary U-M football coach Bo Schembechler had nearly completed a book about his 37-year fight against heart disease, with the help of his U-M cardiologist Kim Eagle, M.D., and Fritz Seyferth, a former U-M football player who is now a development officer for the U-M Cardiovascular Center.

Now, that book has been published, by the Ann Arbor Media Group, and is available for purchase online and in local retailers including the CVC gift shop. Dr. Eagle and Mr. Seyferth will appear at a book signing and sale from 5 - 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Grizzly Peak Brewing Company at 120 W. Washington Street. All authors' proceeds from the book benefit the U-M Cardiovascular Center's Bo Schembechler Heart of a Champion Fund.

This book could make a great Father's Day gift for U-M football fans and people facing heart disease. It weaves together important health information and personal remembrances of Bo's career.
