Attend Dean Woolliscroft's office hours program
Since beginning the "office hours" program, Dean Woolliscroft has met informally with many faculty, staff and students who have provided him with valuable comments and suggestions on how to enhance our efforts and make a great school even better. April 15: Harry Mobley, Ph.D. to give next Dean's Lecture
Harry L.T. Mobley, Ph.D., the Frederick G. Novy, M.D., collegiate professor in microbiology and immunology and professor and chair of microbiology and immunology, will give the next Dean's Lecture at 5 p.m. Tuesday April 15, in Dow Auditorium, Towsley Center. The topic of his talk is "Rational Vaccine Development Against Mucosal Infections: Common Tools to Combat Infectious Disease." All members of the University community are welcome to attend. A reception will follow in the Towsley Lobby.
May 19 - 20: 12th Annual Nathan Shock Workshop
"Age-Related Changes in the Biology of Learning and Memory" will be the topic of the U-M Nathan Shock Center's 12th annual workshop May 19 - 20. This year's meeting will feature lectures by invited experts in the field including John Disterhoft, Karyn Frick, Michela Gallagher, Eric Klann, Marina Lynch, John Morrison and Scott Small.

Request for applications: Post-Doctoral translational scholars program Application Deadline: May 8
The Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research at the University of Michigan seeks outstanding applicants for its newly developed Post-Doctoral Translational Scholars Program.
The PTSP is a multidisciplinary career development program which is designed to prepare individuals already possessing a doctorate in a biomedical, science or social science disciplines, for independent careers in translational research.
Individuals with doctoral degrees who are interested in obtaining training in translational sciences are encouraged to apply for this unique funding opportunity which will provide trainees with a $100,000 career development award that can be utilized for two to three years. Faculty Scholars Program in Integrative Healthcare 2008-2009 Application Deadline: Friday, May 2
The Faculty Scholars Program in Integrative Healthcare prepares U-M faculty to incorporate theoretical, scientific, and clinical information related to complementary, alternative, and integrative therapies into their respective field(s). Eight to ten academic faculty from the medical and allied health schools are admitted each year. Participation involves one full day a month (first Friday) over the academic year. April 29: President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief presentation
On Tuesday, April 29, the Health Sciences Libaries is hosting a special presentation on the work of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. Mary E. Kratz, advisor to PEPFAR and system project coordinator, University of Michigan Medical School, will speak in the Biomedical Science Research Building Auditorium from 2 - 4 p.m. All staff are encouraged to attend.

International Faculty Seed Grant Application Deadline: Thursday, May 1
Global REACH, together with the associate deans of research and graduate studies, Galen Toews, M.D., Miriam Meisler, Ph.D., and Steven Kunkel, Ph,D., senior associate dean for research, is pleased to announce the availability of three $15,000 grants for UMMS faculty to pursue international research, education or collaboration efforts.
Health Sciences Libraries hosts trials of AccessMedicine AccessMedicine offers an integrated collection of clinical and educational resources for completing evaluations, diagnoses, case management decisions, conducting research, medical education and self-assessment/board review.

April 22: Administrative Professionals Week celebration
All U-M administrative office professionals are invited to a celebration of Administrative Professionals Week from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Biomedical Science Research Building Auditorium hosted by UM-Association of Administrative Professional. Following a networking lunch, Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs, Robert Kelch, M.D., will introduce a national Web cast, "The 2008 Annual Briefing for Administrative Professionals." This event qualifies for CEUs.

New Web site: Medical School Financial Services
The Medical School Financial Services office is a service-oriented administrative support group for Medical School units, departments and executive administration. This office is responsible for all financial activities of the Medical School, including forecasting, financial planning, capital financing, business plans, cost accounting, financial analysis, annual and special audits, development and maintenance of internal accounting controls, and financial accounting and reporting. The office also leads a variety of strategic analysis initiatives, and provides analytical support and insight to aid leadership in decision-making across the educational, research and clinical missions of the Medical School.
