There is an old saying that goes, “Put your money where your mouth is.” And just like a lot of old adages, this one rings true. I thought of it this morning as I prepared for a typical day in the Medical School’s Diversity & Career Development Office.

On any given day, we may be meeting with a number of prospective house officers from all around the country as they tour the Health System and meet with faculty. We will answer phone calls and emails from prospective medical students who are wondering if Michigan would be right for them. We also conduct premed advising and career coaching to UM undergraduates as they prepare for a career in medicine. And on some evenings, the Minority Health Research Program's Community Advisory Board is meeting to discuss our medical school clinical research studies that will benefit the local community..

And all of this is business as usual. But none of it would be possible without the University of Michigan Medical School’s support.

So you might say, our Medical School is old . . . and wise. We have put our money where our mouth is. We have made an investment in our future which is you. We hope to see you here!
