Medical and Graduate Students
The DCDO is involved in several activities for the professional development of medical and graduate students, such as:
- Night on the Wards – A mentoring session for second year med students as they prepare to go into their clinical rotations during third year
- Formal and informal mentoring sessions with house officers, faculty and alumni
- Professional networking activities such as:
- Detroit Medical Society meetings
- Metro Ann Arbor Medical Society meetings
We support our student groups who are part of their respective national organizations. Some of our students represent UMMS at the national level by being officers at these organizations. Our students who attend these conference represent UMMS and bring back ideas and activities that they learn. We also seek out the best and brightest from around the country at some of these meetings:
- Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association
- Association of American Indian Physicians
- Gay and Lesbian Medical Association
- Historically Black Colleges and Universities
- National Arab American Medical Association
- National Hispanic Medical Association
- National Network of Latino Medical Students
- Student National Medical Association
