College Students
Through our programs for college students, we set the groundwork for success. We provide the kind of coaching that helps students realize their potential. .. and gives them the tools and resources to make great things happen.
Summer Opportunities for Apprenticeships in Research (MedSOAR)
Highly motivated college and high school students can earn while they learn and explore a career in medicine and/or biomedical sciences. Students work in either a research lab or a clinic to experience biomedical science first hand. While high school students are encouraged to apply, undergraduate students receive priority placement. Students must have previously participated in a U-M Medical School Diversity & Career Development program.
Profile for Success (formerly known as Health Careers Opportunities Program)
The U-M Medical School collaborates with the U-M School of Dentistry in an intensive six-week, pre-medical pipeline program for underrepresented and disadvantaged college students. Students are exposed to intensive basic science courses, medical school admissions procedures, the clinical and research environment, an MCAT preparation class and interview counseling.
Pre-Med Advising and Career Coaching
Comprehensive individual & group pre-med advising and career coaching is offered to college students. Staff advisors provide students with guidance on the medical school application process and help students understand the essential elements needed to become a competitive applicant. In addition, staff advisors provide referrals for support services and collaborate with various U-M departments including the U-M Career Center and the U-M College of Literature, Science and the Arts Advising Center.
