“My experience at the Hope Clinic was part of an M4 elective called "Care for the Underserved." I learned how to function as a provider in a low-resource setting, about issues common to the patient population being served by Hope Clinic, the resources available to these patients, and to enhance my clinical decision-making skills for these special populations. This was the very reason I went to medical school—to learn how to have the most utility when helping those who are the most vulnerable. I also learned that physicians have a lot of agency, power, and responsibility when it comes to addressing these disparities.”
