An Introduction

Allen S. Lichter, M.D. was appointed Dean of the Medical School effective May 1, 1999, after serving as interim Dean from December 1, 1998. Dr. Lichter served as Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan Medical School from 1984 to 1997. He also served as Director of the Breast Oncology Program at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center until 1991. Prior to 1984, he was the Director of the Radiation Therapy Section of the National Cancer Institute's Radiation Oncology Branch. Dr. Lichter's research interests include breast cancer, treatment planning in radiotherapy and conformal computer-controlled radiation. Click here for Dr. Lichter's biography.
