Commencement 2008: 

The University of Michigan Medical School Class of 2008 celebrated commencement Friday, May 9 at Hill Auditorium. Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs Lori J. Pierce, M.D., convened and Dean James O. Woolliscroft, M.D., presided. Anjali Shivani Arora made remarks on behalf of the class. This year’s commencement speaker was Atul Gawande, M.D., M.P.H., surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and best-selling author of “Complications” and “Better.” His talk, “On Failure,” examined how to deal with failure by learning.
