The Biomedical Research Core Facilities are a collection of campus-wide, centralized laboratories for developing and providing state-of-the-art biomedical research resources to facilitate biomedical research. They are available on a fee-for-service basis to the entire biomedical research community throughout the University of Michigan.

Specific Aims:

• Ensure access to new biomedical research services and costly instrumentation for a wide variety of investigators, avoiding duplication expense and effort.
• Providing highly trained personnel to carry out the procedures for investigators, providing increased quality control and efficiency in coordinating services for multiple users.
• Implement new shared services as needed; as part of this effort, coordinate applications for externally funded instrumentation grants to purchase equipment.
• Sponsor relevant mini-courses, technical symposia, etc. as a training function for University investigators.
• The instrumentation used in these facilities is sophisticated and costly and the analytical techniques and operations highly specialized. Instrumentation is constantly being upgraded to keep pace with the rapid advanced in biomedical research. It is virtually impossible for individual laboratories to afford such a broad array of facilities.
