Student Life: About Ann Arbor
Ann Arbor provides an amazing backdrop for your four years of study at
Michigan. It is just the right size and the right environment for living
and learning.
A cultural haven representing ethnicities from around the world, you can sample Thai, Korean or Ethiopian cuisine in one of the eclectic downtown dining spots. Love the outdoors? You can take advantage of Ann Arbor’s beautiful gardens and large system of trails and parks, many of which are located along the banks of the Huron River. Ann Arbor is also one of the nation's top 15 safest cities, making our campus one of the most secure medical campuses in the country.
One of the great things about Ann Arbor is its location in southeast Michigan. Within a few hours you can be at a sandy beach along the more than 1500 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, and within 4 to 5 hours - by train or car - you can be in Chicago or Toronto. Downtown Detroit with all of its professional sports and entertainment venues is just a 45-minute drive away.
