Morphometric Analysis/MetaMorph
Fluorophore Bleaching:

Original images were collected on an Olympus FV500 confocal microscope. Images were taken pre- and post-bleach of a defined region of interest (red box). Fluorescent signals were measured with MetaMorph software.
Data was plotted with Prism software

Neurite Outgrowth:
Original images were collected on a Nikon microscope. Neurite lengths were measured with MetaMorph software.
Data was plotted with Prism software

Sections Through Human Sural Nerve

a typical para-phenylinediamine stained section

space filling image to analyze fiber size
Axon density was assessed in human sural nerves as an endpoint in drug trials performed at the University of Michigan. Plastic, cross-sections were stained with para-phenylinediamine (PPD) for maximum contrast and digital images used to count myelinated fiber.

Adipocyte Measurements:
Original images were collected on a Nikon microscope. Image contrast was enhanced with PhotoShop. Adipocyte area and number were measured with MetaMorph software
Data was plotted with Prism software
