Make a Difference
Donations have supported Michigan Center for Translational Pathology scientists in their recent discovery of what may be the cause of prostate cancer-gene fusion. Through this understanding, we are researching and developing new diagnostic tests and more effective, targeted treatments for cancer and other human disease.
This life-saving, transformational research is what your philanthropy supports. Your gift enables the Michigan Center for Translational Pathology to investigate new methods of treatment.
Each new research project can cost up to $50,000 just to produce the initial data necessary for federal or state grant funding. A gift to the MCTP provides this essential seed funding. Additionally, MCTP researchers rely on highly technical tools to do their work. For example, the device used to prepare slides costs $20,000, the high-power microscope used to view the slides costs $50,000 and the machines to analyze the data cost $160,000. The more equipment in the laboratories, the more accelerated the research.
