Logical Unit of Measure

LOGICAL UNIT OF MEASURE DISTRIBUTION PROJECT

A new medical surgical supply distribution model is coming to the UMHS. LUM has been used throughout various industries for over 10 years. The LUM distribution model provides significant cost savings and space efficiencies. It will be in place by the time the new Children’s and Women’s Hospital opens in 2012.

The LUM process will do three things:

Eliminate some of the current touch points between medical-surgical products ordered directly from the vendor and delivery to the patient bedside.
Free up space on B2 to expand and enhance our Central Sterile Supply efforts.
Allow for delivery directly from the loading dock at the new Children’s and Women’s hospital without going through the MSC Warehouse process.
