Overview

The University of Michigan Medical schools makes use of a full spectrum of evaluation and assessment methodologies, ranging from traditional multiple choice tests to innovative methodologies incorporating high-end simulation technology, standardized patient interactions, written essays, teaching/presentations, oral examinations, laboratory-based exams, responses to paper-based clinical scenarios, faculty evaluations of observed clinical performances, objective structured clinical examinations, and computer-based assessments.  Students are assessed on knowledge, skills attitudes and behaviors using methods appropriate to the targeted outcome.
