Fourth-year students are required to take sub-internships to allow the student to further explore specialties of interest.  In addition, students have an Emergency Medicine Rotation, ICU rotations, and have to complete an Advanced Medical Therapeutics course.  During their fourth year, students take on their own patient caseload with nearly the same responsibilities as a resident.
