At the University of Michigan Medical School we educate individuals to provide exemplary patient care and graduate physicians who assume leadership roles in the areas of clinical medicine, research and teaching.
Students learn the material in ways that are similar to how they will use it as physicians, by reflecting on knowledge and facts, posing clinical questions, and using evidence to find answers. In addition to teaching the scientific principles of health and disease, the curriculum emphasizes patient communication and the influence of cultural and social issues on health.
Developed to challenge our students and help them to develop cognitively and
professionally, our curriculum is presented in sequences and modules that integrate
biomedical sciences, clinical sciences, and patient care skills.
