Why We Need You
Meeting with patients and their families is often an eye-opening experience for our students. While they learn about diseases from textbooks and lectures, it is watching how real people deal with real life when faced with the challenges of living with chronic illness that really changes the way students approach patients whom they meet in their clinical training.
Families who volunteer for FCE find it to be an extremely rewarding experience. Not only do they feel like they can have a direct influence on tomorrow’s doctors, they also value the opportunity to tell their stories, a very powerful teaching tool.
