1. Lectures have been reduced in number to 32: There will be group discussions and review sessions of major concepts in the course during the second hour of lectures. Classroom response System(CRS) will be used during selected lectures to enhance students' participation and interaction. 2. New Coursetool Web site: All lectures, course's details, and announcements are posted on this site http://ctng.ummu.umich.edu. PowerPoint presentations under the Resources sections and also as attachments to each lecture in the Schedule section. Students are encouraged to refer to this material and to use Coursetool discussion section in submitting any form of query about course material. 3.
Tortora's publisher package: This year the Publisher will provide at
bookstores packages for students that includes: Please make sure that you purchase the complete package from the bookstore. 4. Lab visits will be more frequent and structured. These will cover a complete 2-hour session during selected dates of the schedule. Lab #1 (room 3605) will be divided into 4 sections and each section will be allocated to a faculty member. Students will be divided into 4 groups and required to complete assignment sheets and quizzes during the lab. 5. Quizzes: Seven quizzes will be introduced this semester. It is believed that these will help students prepare for the main exams and understand the basic issues given in lectures. Quizzes will start during the first 15 minutes of the lecture and questions will usually be in a PowerPoint presentation format. Students will feed the correct answers into the CRS directly. Quizzes will make 70 points of the course grade (total 300) and students are expected to take all of them.

Grade: The course quizzes and exams will make up a total of 300
