Protease Inhibitors stop HIV replication by preventing the enzyme protease from cutting the virus into shorter pieces that it needs to make copies of itself in newly infected cells. New copies are still made but they are defective and not completely formed so they can't infect other cells.
Viracept (nelfinavir)
Usual Dosage
5 x 250mg two times per day
Take with a meal or a light snack. Do not skip a dose. If you miss a dose, do not double the next dose.
Side Effects to report to your doctor immediately
- Diarrhea (Most often mild)
Drug Interactions and Incompatibility
- Other medications may interact with Nelfinavir, therefore it is important that you notify your doctor of all medicines you currently take before starting Nelfinavir.
All of your Antiviral Medications must be taken exactly as prescribed, without skipping or altering doses. Please notify you doctor if you have any problems with these or any of your medicines. |
