Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors (NRTIs) work by being incorporated into the viral DNA, making it ineffective.

Epivir (3TC, Lamivudine)

Usual Dosage
1 X 150mg tablet twice per day or 1 X 300mg tablet once per day

• Headache
• Nausea
• Confusion or psychosis (Rare)

Drug Interactions and Incompatibility

• Resistance develops rapidly when taken alone, therefore should only be used in combination therapy.
• Other medications may interact with 3TC, therefore it is important to notify your doctor of other medications you are currently taking before starting 3TC.
