MPLAN Bedside Rounds with RN/MD

A description of the main goals of the initiative:

As part of a broader plan to develop a unit-based approach to patient care, and transition from non-service localization to unit/service localization, bedside rounds would focus on the daily care of a patient and the interaction between the nurse and the physician. The goal would be to assist in the development and implementation of a standardized interaction that nurses/physicians could use to template that conversation.

A brief discussion of the scope of the project, and the interventions and metrics, if appropriate:

  1. Implementation of a bedside discussion checklist that focuses the conversation between physician, patient and nurse

  2. Provide avenues/instruction for redirecting longer conversations to later in the day with total conversation to last < 5 minutes in the morning

  3. f/u metrics for paging frequency and content\
