CDC UTI Project

A description of the main goals of the initiative:

Evaluation of the testing and treatment of urinary tract infection in the hospitalized patients.  Development, implementation and assessment of a hospitalist focused intervention aimed at improving diagnosis and treatment of urinary infectious with a goal of reducing inappropriate antibiotic use.

A brief discussion of the scope of the project, and the interventions and metrics, if appropriate:

Hospitalized patients who undergo urine culture—interventions included hospitalist education and pharmacy intervention—metrics include chart review for guideline approved indications for obtaining a urine culture as well as dx and if treatment was rendered.
