Patient Care Services

The clinical faculty of the University of MIchigan Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology & Diabetes (MEND) provide expert care for patients with a large number of endocrinological and metabolic conditions. A partial list of the more common diseases treated in the MEND Division includes: diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, pituitary diseases, thyroid diseases, adrenal diseases, abnormalities in the reproductive axis, obesity, and hyperlipidemia. A more comprehensive list of diseases cared for by our faculty can be found here.

The Division sponsors a wide range of general and specialized endocrine clinics. Patients are assigned specific faculty based on clinical diagnosis and physician expertise. We have a large number of faculty with expertise in the cutting-edge management of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM), who see patients in our general endocrine clinics. In addition, there are several highly specialized clinics for patients with more uncommon DM needs.

The MEND Division also offers a Diabetes Education Program for adults, which provides intensive education in the form of individual counseling or group classes on topics such as diet and nutrition, insulin management, modification of risk factors, and weight control.
