Interpreter Services is currently accepting applications for temporary interpreter positions. To determine if you qualify, ask yourself the following questions:

If so, Interpreter Services encourages you to apply. Knowledge of medical terminology and completion of a 40 hour medical interpreting training are required. You can develop this knowledge through our low-cost training courses. We are a licensed provider of Bridging the Gap, the nation's top medical interpreter training program. We also offer a class on medical terminology and body systems. Both courses are open to current and aspiring interpreters. Health care providers throughout the country have a growing need for trained interpreters, so these courses can advance your career even outside the UMHS.

Please keep in mind that temporary interpreters are not permanent University employees - they work on an as-needed basis. But some of our established temporary interpreters may work up to 20 to 40 hours per week, and many of our full-time staff interpreters started out as temps.
