Take 5, Win a Prize
Patient safety is the responsibility of everyone who works here at the Health System. It’s our responsibility to meet the standards of The Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, but most importantly—it’s our duty to our patients and their families.
While mistakes can and will happen, by educating ourselves and implementing appropriate processes and procedures, together we can make sure these mistakes are few and their consequences minimal. Every week the Quality Improvement Accreditation and Regulatory Readiness Department produces a Quizlette to help educate you about various quality and safety topics. Completing these quizzes is fun and educational—plus, if you take five quizlettes online by Feb. 29, you’ll be entered into a prize drawing!
Why is it so important to meet the standards of The Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services?
It improves the quality and safety of patient care delivery and the environment of care in which we work.
It pays our bills. Compliance with standards qualifies UMHHC for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and enhances our marketability with other payers and consumers. |
It strengthens public perception and community confidence in UMHHC’s ability to provide safe, quality care. |
It helps meet the expectations of patients and families that health care organizations will do all that they should to deliver the best and safest care possible. |
It enables UMHHC to compete for awards and recognitions. |
It’s the right thing to do! |
Why would we want to do anything less? In the end, it comes down to caring for one patient at a time, and doing all that we can to bring each and every patient to the most optimal level of wellness.
