2007 Readership Survey Highlights & List of Prize Winners
Survey Highlights
- We had a 4.98 percent response rate to the survey which is excellent considering the industry standard is 2 to 5 percent.
- The topics readers enjoy reading about most in Inside View are employee/department profiles (76 percent), new programs (75 percent) and Taking Care of Our Own topics (74 percent). Building project plans and updates, professional development, research and lean/Michigan Quality System topics also received high marks.
- Inside View has good name recognition as a communications vehicle of UMHS; 89 percent of respondents recognize it as the employee newsletter.
- Nearly 90 percent of respondents read all or most of each issue of Inside View.
- 88 percent of respondents rated Inside View as easy to read, and 74 percent found it appealing in appearance.
- 68 percent of respondents consider Inside View a source of helpful information, 61 percent said it’s a source to get to know their workplace and 45 percent said it’s a source to get to know more about your employer.
- Nearly 100 percent of respondents said they have a highly favorable (29 percent) or favorable (68 percent) impression of Inside View.
- The publication helps readers feel more informed, engaged and part of the UMHS community with 26 percent agreeing with this statement a great deal and 55 percent agreeing some.
- Nearly 50 percent of respondents have either used or plan to use a program or service they learned about from Inside View. The programs and services they noted using are:
- Health tips/health and well-being information
- Alternative transportation, including the bus to save on fuel and congestion, van pools, shuttles to/from the East Ann Arbor Health and Geriatrics Center, and more
- Safety information
- Joint Commission information
- Listservs
- Michigan Quality System/Principles of Lean Thinking in development of systems
- MFit online information, vending machines for healthier food options and fitness classes
- Fostering Innovation Grants
- VOICES of the staff
- Patient education awards
- Work-life balance/burnout article
- Energy conservation/Trying to recycle or reuse more efficiently
