The Center benefits from the active participation of faculty, researchers, students/trainees, practitioners, and others interested in injury research. See a complete list of current members.
Membership Criteria
The following people are warmly encouraged to apply for membership in the
University of Michigan Injury Center.
- Any University of Michigan faculty, staff member, visiting scholar, or
student who is involved in injury research, prevention, or education
- Any individual outside of the University of Michigan with interest in the
field of injury (involved in research, prevention, or education)
Benefits of Membership
- The opportunity to participate as part of a diverse scientific community
spanning a large spectrum of scholarship devoted to injury research,
prevention, and education
- The opportunity to engage with other researchers in a formal way, through
mentorships, collaborative research, and/or group activities
- Access to support, including guidance, consultation, and assistance with
application preparation for activities that promote interdisciplinary
collaborations in support of the Center's goals
- The opportunity to present at campus events to enhance visibility of your
research and to connect with other researchers
- The opportunity to have research highlighted on the Center's website or in
the Center's newsletter
- Access to information about injury research via the Center's member
newsletter, which includes updates on internal and external grant
opportunities, as well as updates on research outcomes
- Identification as part of an injury research community, including
recognition on the UM Injury Center website
- Inclusion in UM Injury Center events
Member Responsibilities
In general, all members are expected to demonstrate a clear and consistent
interest in injury research, prevention and education by participating in
ongoing research, education, or prevention programs, attending UM Injury Center
(and related) events, and participating in injury-related activities. Although
there is no minimum expected service commitment, members are encouraged to
participate. In addition, members:
- May present at Center events
- May serve on special service committees in support of the Center's work
- May mentor junior faculty/staff or students to develop and support their
interest in the field of injury
Selection of Members
Interested individuals may apply or be nominated for membership via the UM
Injury Center Application for Membership. Applications will be reviewed by the
UM Injury Center staff and Internal Advisory Committee for approval. Applicants
will be notified promptly.
