Research aims to prevent violence before it begins. Each year, more than 170,000 youth are treated in US emergency departments with sports-related traumatic brain injuries.

Did You Know...?

Injury is the leading cause of death for people aged 1 to 44. Each year, more than 50 million people are injured seriously enough to require medical treatment in the United States. And some 180,000 of them die.

The most important fact is that nearly all injuries are predictable and preventable.

The University of Michigan Injury Center conducts extensive research on injury prevention, supports education and training in the field, and reaches out to share evidence-based findings.
