Research Description

I am currently involved in two projects.  The first involves investigation of the phenotype, differentiation, regulation and function of Th17 cells in human and mouse tumors.  My second project deals with inflammation and tumor stem cell transformation.  I am dissecting the cellular and molecular mechanisms of chronic inflammation at tumor initiation, development and metastasis in patients with cancer and in specific animal models, and defining the role of interaction between inflammatory immune cells and tumor stem cells in tumor stem cell transformation and tumor development.
