My Home & Office℠ Medical Interior Design is a service offered by the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) through its Home Care Services Division. As a clinical service within UMHS, My Home & Office℠ is committed to maintaining the institution's tradition of leadership in healthcare and its philosophy of "putting patient's first." Our medical interior designers have extensive experience working with families on home evaluations, customized renovation plans, and construction coordination.

My Home & Office℠ Medical Interior Design
Nobody likes spending time in the hospital, but being back in your own house can also be challenging. You're delighted to be home, but you worry about how you'll manage. Will you be able to reach the counters, light switches, faucets? Is there a way to navigate your wheelchair up the front steps?
That's where we come in.
My Home & Office℠ addresses the needs of patients who physical disabilities or challenges with mobility and coordination. We specialize in medical interior design, helping patients and their families in residential, healthcare, and contract settings. Aging in place, barrier free environments is what we strive for.
My Home & Office℠ will send our medical interior designers to your home to perform a design evaluation. One room or all your rooms, that is up to you. With a full home evaluation you and your family will be presented with an Accessibility and Functionality Plan that outlines recommendations for making your home accessible, functional, safe, and beautiful . . . all will be reviewed and assessed.
My Home & Office℠ medical interior designers will evaluate:
- Entries/exits: ramps, lifts, walker stairs for safe ingress and egress
- Doorways and hallways: widths, thresholds and accessible locks and handles
- Bathrooms: roll-in showers, walk-in tub, roll-under and accessible sinks and faucets, grab bars, lighting
- Kitchens: accessible appliances, counter height, accessible sinks and faucets, lighting
- Stairs: railings, lifts, elevators, lighting, trip hazards
- Flooring: functionality, safety, non slip materials
- Lighting: access and control & non-glare/non-shadow
- Other: electrical access and emergency generators
